Virtual Production with Base Mesh: Tangible Reality

The power of virtual production

A 3D artist plays a crucial role in the lead-up to a virtual production and is responsible for creating 3D content to be used in the virtual world. Here are the tasks a 3D artist performs in advance of a virtual production:

  • Concept development

  • Modeling

  • texturing

  • Shading

  • animation

  • simulation

  • Rigging

  • lighting

  • Rendering

  • Quality control

  • Collaboration with the team

Concept development

Our 3D artists worked with the director, art director and other team members to develop the visual concept of the virtual world. This involves creating sketches, designs and concept drawings to establish the desired look and feel.

Realistic modeling

The 3D artist creates 3D models of objects, characters, buildings, and other elements needed in the virtual world. This can include both organic and geometric modeling. In addition, 3D scanning in virtual productions offers further realism, efficiency, detail, flexibility, consistency and the possibility of interaction. They serve as a basis for realistic characters, objects and virtual sets, improve post-production and increase the quality of virtual productions.

Photorealistic representations: The boundaries are blurred

After modeling, textures are applied to the 3D models to give them realistic surfaces and materials. This can include colors, textures, shine and reflections.

Cooperation:

Base Mesh works closely with other team members such as directors, producers, VFX artists and designers to ensure that the 3D content is seamlessly integrated into the overall production.

Base Mesh: Your partner in the virtual world

The work of a 3D artist in advance of a virtual production is crucial to the success of the project, as the quality and authenticity of the virtual world depends heavily on the content they create
